Author and musician Jovan Fludd was born and raised in Harlem, New York by his maternal grandmother. As a troubled youth, he spent several years in juvenile prison and upon his release, he maintained employment at the Modell's Distribution Center in the Bronx while attending the Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC). Progress on the legal path seemed too slow and Fludd fell weak to the idea of fast cash which led him back to prison as an adult.
During his second prison visit, he began writing music, studied Spanish and business as he committed to self-improvement. On October 10, 2012, Fludd nearly lost his life when Wende Correction officers brutally beat and strangled him while being handcuffed behind his back. As a result, his heart stopped beating and he had to be revived along with suffering a collapsed lung, an overinflated lung, and a crushed trachea, requiring a tracheostomy.
Fludd was targeted for his firm refusal to terminate Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) liens he filed against Manhattan Judges, prosecutors, and attorneys. Despite the horrendous experience, he maintained his refusal to submit, disregarding the continued harassment and threats received from correction officers, which included food tampering and denying him communication with the outside world. He continued to study, write music and managed to fulfill a challenge by another prisoner to write a novel which he titled FAMILY. During his incarceration, he learned that the best way to approach anything in life is to be fearless also believing in the philosophy that you get what you release into the universe.
Close to 2 years after his release, Fludd earns a living as a commercial truck driver while selling his self-published novel FAMILY. The novel is sold with a 5-color option drawstring bag that displays his logo BRE (B.I.T.C.H.E.S. RULE EVERYTHING —BEING INSPIRED TO CONQUER HONORS THE EXCELLENCE IN SELF WHICH RULES EVERYTHING). He has also dedicated time to being a solo recording artist with a unique melting pot sound of hip-hop, r&b, pop, and soul. He hopes to entertain, motivate and teach by communicating personal thoughts, feelings, and experiences via his music and book writing. As before, the harassment by government officials still exist. Fludd is completely positive that his liberty is being targeted in an attempt to gain leverage for coercing the termination of the perpetual liens.
